Rio de Janeiro will host the Web Summit for the first time next May, one of the world’s largest technology events, which is expected to inject around R$ 1.2 billion into the city’s economy over the next six years.

More than R$ 24 million will be invested in the urbanization of 16 streets in the city’s traditional popular shopping area. The interventions will take place over two years.
